Greystone PurePod
GREYSTONE PUREPOD
Location: Waipara, New Zealand. The exact location of your private oasis won’t be revealed until your booking is confirmed.
The Greystone PurePod is a glass cabin perched high above the Greystone Vineyard in Waipara, about an hour north of Christchurch, New Zealand. Providing expansive views of the Teviotdale hills, the Waipara Valley, and the Southern Alps, you’ll have a hard time doing anything but staring out the window (there’s no shortage of them either).
From the carpark, you set off on foot, climb over a fence (using a stile) and follow a walking track to the cabin. The distance from the car, and the complete absence of people and traffic allows for your own secluded haven.
This is the kind of accomodation that warrants cooking at home, wine from the bottle shop, and a cheeseboard on the deck. The views are THAT GOOD. I stayed for two nights in winter but wish I had a week. I took strolls around the property, finding a picnic table set up on the hill, I sat and watched the sheep moving along their little tracks.
Through the glass ceiling, or wrapped in a blanket on the deck - hot choccie in hand, I watched the thousands of stars unpolluted by city lights (a fun fact I learned from Bill Bryson: 6,000 stars are visible to the naked eye, but from any given spot, we can only see about 2,000 due to light pollution, the light from the moon, and atmospheric conditions). I woke up to a beautiful morning fog (very Pride and Prejudice).
Waiting for Mr Darcy to appear from the fog
PurePod have cabins across New Zealand, so if Greystone isn’t your vibe (you’re weird), or if you’re heading to another part of the country, there are a number of others to choose from!
Stray beautiful,
BEAR.
