Izakaya Fujiyama - Sydney
IZAKAYA FUJIYAMA
It feels like all of Australia is currently in Japan, carving fresh lines on the powdery slopes, enjoying quirky and unique vending machine treats, and doing damage in the local thrift shops (hello Anna Jamison). For those of us who aren’t lucky enough to be in Japan, I have a recommendation that brings Japan to us.
Izakaya Fujiyama : shop G09, 35-52 Waterloo Street, Surry Hills, NSW.
Izakaya Fujiyama offers a contemporary twist on Japanese cuisine, with the traditional style of shared plates. The word ‘Izakaya’ is a blend of three Kanji symbols that mean ‘stay’, ‘alcohol’, and ‘room’.
The atmosphere at Izakaya Fujiyama is warm and inviting, offering enclosed and alfresco dining, making it the perfect place for both intimate meals, or group gatherings.
With a focus on fresh, quality ingredients, you really can’t order wrong, but if you’re looking for some inspiration, our order consisted of:
Renkon chips, Mixed sashimi, Truffle oil edamame, Agedashi tofu, Teriyaki yum nuts, Wagyu beef tataki, Fried chicken bao buns, and their signature dish - Nasu miso dengaku (miso eggplant). We wouldn’t have changed a thing.
A visit is a must, particularly if you’re a fan of a late-night bite at Bar Wa Izakaya in Tassie. Izakaya Fujiyama serves as the Sydney equivalent, but with jumbo wishing stones as chopstick rests and red leather menus, earning bonus points for its attention to detail!
Stray beautiful,
BEAR.
